How do you self-care?

When life feels overwhelming more self-care is required. Carving out time to focus on the things that ground and center us is self-care.

Quiet time. Time to journal about the upcoming day. Prayer. Meditation. Self-reflection. Exercise.

My own meditation practice had started to feel a bit, well, stale if I'm honest. I started Hal Elrod’s book The Miracle Morning for inspiration on December 15, 2024.

Hal Elrod offers a powerful daily self-care practice he began using some years ago when he'd hit a second rock bottom, emotionally speaking. It transformed his life. Elrod's miracle morning personal development practice incorporates affirmations, visualization plus 3 more grounding practices: silence, exercise, and scribing (or journaling).

Daily since 12/15 I'm waking an hour earlier feeling energized. My practice is simple. A ten minute meditation. Some gentle stretching and yoga. Journaling. Reading a few pages of something reflective. Saying my affirmations. It's been very helpful. When I start the the day focused things seem to flow better.
